Relish’s Reset: Finding His Home in Northern Illinois

Relish came to us with a story that made him a little different from most dogs. This 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog originally came from Texas and is both deaf and three-legged after undergoing an amputation.

But none of that slowed him down.

Relish is energetic, playful, and full of personality. After previously being returned because of his high play drive, he needed a home that understood his energy and was ready to work with the way he communicates.

Rescue Reset Project helped share Relish’s story and worked to connect him with the right adopter. We also raised support for resources like sign-language training that could help him and his future family communicate and build a stronger bond.

That search eventually led Relish all the way to Northern Illinois, where he found his new home!

Relish’s reset wasn’t about changing who he was. It was about finding someone who understood exactly how special he already was and giving him the resources he needed to succeed.
